Dear Stepping Strong 5K Team,
I hope that you and your families remain healthy during this challenging time. For me, it feels like the toll of sheltering at home is starting to drag on and hit hard. I do find it comforting to know that across the country, and globe, we are in this together for the well-being of all; and this to me, is the essence of Stepping Strong.
To keep our team motivated and connected while we are apart, we have put together some tools for the month of May which is Trauma Awareness Month. We hope that you will participate and find it meaningful and helpful for your fundraising too.
1. #GivingTuesdayNow: May 5
In response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19, #GivingTuesdayNow is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020. Share your GoFundMe Charity page on social media or create a Facebook Fundraiser and ask your donors to support the work of the Stepping Strong Center and your run. Now, more than ever, trauma is a global issue and hasn’t stopped, even in the face of a pandemic.
2. Virtual fundraising and the use of special occasions
During this time of physical distancing, individuals are making sure to stay connected with friends and family, especially to celebrate special occasions like graduations, birthdays, milestones, etc. Consider using a special occasion to spread the word about your 5K run in September and ask for donations in lieu of gifts.
